Any United States citizen living on campus/in Hanover can same-day register to vote at Hanover High School! Scroll down to the “Voter Registration Drives” section to view what to bring.

Town Meeting Explained - “All Hanover citizens are encouraged to participate in the yearly Town Meeting, a living example of direct democracy. Town Meeting is a meeting of citizens who come together to form the legislative body of the town. It is held yearly, the second Tuesday in May, to elect town officers, adopt the town budget, and consider other issues that require Town Meeting approval.” - Hanover’s Green Paper on Town Meeting

 We encourage all Dartmouth Students who are U.S. Citizens to vote!

Dartmouth students can LEGALLY vote either in Hanover, NH or their state of origin.

 

Voter Registration Drives

This 2023-2024 school year, we are excited to work with the Dartmouth Votes coalition and the Town of Hanover to run several more voter registration events!

FALL AND WINTER VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVES:

  • November 6 from 2-4 PM @ Collis Common Ground - DONE!

  • January 8 from 3-5 PM @ Collis Common Ground - DONE!

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Photo ID: Dartmouth ID or driver’s license.

  • Proof of residence: If you live in a Dartmouth dorm (in Hanover, not Summit on Juniper or Sachem Village), Supervisors of the Checklist can verify your residency in Hanover. If you don’t live in a Dartmouth dorm, bring a copy of a lease or utility bill, your NH driver's license with your Hanover address on it, or other proof of Hanover residency. Photos on phones are acceptable.

  • Proof of citizenship: Copy of birth certificate or passport. Photos on phones are acceptable.

Affidavits can be signed if the above are not available. However, best practice is to bring the appropriate documents like a passport.

Reminder: Students currently residing at Summit on Juniper and Sachem Village, or other Dartmouth properties NOT located in Hanover cannot register to vote in Hanover.* Please consider any implications registering to vote in Hanover might have on personal circumstances (e.g. scholarships).
